Even if it's with an "old" client..
You might be surprised at how easily you can make someone's day. Give them a call just to say hello and to keep in contact. There are SO many ways to make a difference in someone's life. Everyone seems so busy and preoccupied these days that many people are lacking personal relationships. How about sending a greeting card with a personalized message? An "unexpected" card. By doing this, you'll set yourself apart from, I'm guessing, 99% of every other person that they have done, or will do business with. Send just one a day. That's not overwhelming. Omit any sales literature; just send a personal note that cultivates, informs, and inspires. It need be no longer than three sentences. Mention something interesting, or simply give someone a word of encouragement. It will demonstrate that you value the recipients' business in a personal way. Little touches accumulate into big results over time. Establish and maintain relationships with relevant, consistent attention. They will begin to see you as a resource--not an opportunist. Maintaining ongoing relationships with your prospects and clients accomplishes three things:
· It conditions people to buy. By staying in touch with prospects and clients, you get to know them. Make notes on your conversations, whether personal or business related. You'll be better able to identify their real needs so that they want to do business with you.
· It establishes who you are in the mind of the prospect. Establishing relationships will differentiate you from all the random service businesses and salespeople that try to approach your prospects and clients. When you keep in touch, your message will rise above the barrage of messages prospects and clients receive every day.
· The best customers are always those who have previously done business with you and it's much easier to re-establish those relationships. Do you have clients that you haven't been in touch with in the past month?
